For a small group of students in the Dhaka Education Council, the next three days will be crucial in determining whether they will be able to take the SSC exam.
The Dhaka Middle and Secondary Education Council has opened a final registration period for ninth-grade students who were excluded from the online registration process, and the notice is unusually direct about the consequences of its closure.
Who This Applies To
The opportunity is for students who meet all of these conditions:
- Studied in Class 9 during the 2025 academic year
- Will be SSC examinees in 2027
- Are enrolled at an approved and recognised institution (secondary school, or school and college) under the Dhaka Education Board
- Missed the original online registration
The registration activity began on July 19 and runs until July 30, 2026.
The directive was issued by Professor Kazi Foyzur Rahman, School Inspector, on the order of the Board Chairman, with principals and head teachers requested to take the necessary steps.
The Three Warnings in the Notice
This is where the notice becomes serious, and each point deserves attention:
There will be no further opportunities. After July 30, 2026, under no circumstances will these excluded students be given the opportunity to enroll. The wording leaves no room for late appeals.
The head of the institution is responsible. If enrollment is not completed within the established deadline, the responsibility falls on the head of the institution. For head of institutions and heads of studies, this is not a routine circular, but a directive with its own specific responsibilities.
Students admitted by Transfer Certificate are included. Students admitted by transfer certificate from another board must also complete their enrollment within this same deadline. These are precisely the students most likely to be left out of the administrative process, and the board has explicitly closed that loophole.
Why This Matters More Than It Sounds
Registration is not a bureaucratic formality that can be sorted out later. A student who is not registered with the examining board simply cannot take the SSC exam: no admission card, no registration number, no exam. For a ninth-grade student in the class of 2025, missing this opportunity means losing the chance to take the 2027 SSC exam altogether.
The affected students are, by definition, those the system has already overlooked once. Some don’t even know they were excluded; their families may reasonably assume that because their child attends school every day and takes the internal exams, everything is administratively in order.
That is precisely why the examining board has delegated responsibility to school principals rather than students. But it also means that the practical responsibility for verifying the information falls on anyone close to a ninth-grade student in the class of 2025.
What Guardians and Students Should Do Today
- Contact your school office directly — ask, in plain terms, whether your child’s board registration for SSC 2027 has been completed. Don’t assume; verify
- If the answer is no or unclear, act today, not on July 29. Institutions need time to complete the online process, and a query raised on the final afternoon may not be resolvable
- If you transferred from another board on a TC, treat yourself as high-risk and check immediately — the notice singles out this group for a reason
- Keep a record of your confirmation from the school, so there is no dispute later about what was done and when
- Heads of institutions: the notice places the liability with you. A quick audit of the 2025 Class 9 roll against the registration list this week is worth the hour it takes
For Institutions
Dhaka Board principals and heads of studies should consider the July 30 deadline final. Any student enrolled in Grade 9 in 2025—including late admissions and transfers—who does not appear on the Board’s registration list must be processed through the online system before the deadline.
