New Govt Holiday List 2026 Published (School, College)

    Revised Govt Holiday List 2026

The government has announced nationwide holidays for all schools, colleges, and madrasas during the holy month of Ramadan. The revised schedule was published on Wednesday night, 18 February, by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

According to the notice, holidays for secondary, lower secondary, and primary schools begin on Thursday, 19 February. The closure will continue until 26 March. Madrasas and colleges have already started their Ramadan break from Wednesday, 18 February.

Officials said the decision follows a revised holiday list issued by the authorities. The schedule applies to both government and non-government institutions.

For primary and secondary schools, classes will remain suspended until 26 March. However, 26 March falls on a Thursday. The next two days, Friday and Saturday, are weekly holidays. As a result, teachers and staff will effectively remain on leave until 28 March.

Colleges will remain closed from 18 February to 25 March. The break combines holidays for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and the summer vacation, according to the 2026 academic calendar published by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

In addition, there will be a one-day holiday on 26 March for Independence Day and National Day. Since 27 and 28 March fall on Friday and Saturday, regular classes at colleges will resume on Sunday, 29 March.

The revised holiday schedule affects students, teachers, and administrative staff across the country. It allows institutions to observe Ramadan and related holidays without disruption to the academic calendar.

Education officials have advised institutions to follow the updated calendar strictly. Classes and regular academic activities are expected to restart as scheduled on 29 March after the extended break.
