Schools and Colleges to Reopen Sunday

Schools and colleges across Bangladesh will reopen on Sunday, June 7, after a continuous 16-day holiday for Eid al-Adha and the summer vacation.

Millions of students are expected to return to their classrooms as regular academic activities resume nationwide. The holiday began on May 24 for primary, lower secondary, secondary, and higher secondary educational institutions, according to the academic calendar.

The break included both the Eid al-Adha vacation and the summer vacation. Weekly holidays also fell within the period, giving students a continuous 16-day break.

Under the schedule, government and private primary and secondary schools, colleges, and technical educational institutions remained closed until June 4. Since June 5 and June 6 were the weekly holidays of Friday and Saturday, classes will restart on Sunday.

However, madrasas across the country will remain closed for a longer period. The extended vacation applies to Alia, Dakhil, Alim, Fazil, and Kamil level institutions.

According to the madrasa academic calendar, the holiday that started on May 24 will continue until June 11. As June 12 and June 13 are weekly holidays, madrasa classes will resume on Sunday, June 14.

The reopening of schools and colleges marks the return of regular classroom activities after one of the longest holiday periods in the current academic calendar.
