A total of 49 people were expelled on the fourth day of the SSC and equivalent examinations in Bangladesh, while 32,392 candidates were absent nationwide, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The figures were published by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, which represents the country’s 11 education boards. The report showed expulsions increased from the third exam day, but absentee numbers declined.
Under the nine general education boards, the English Second Paper exam was held on the day. In that exam, 24 people were expelled, and 16,184 students were absent.
The highest number of expulsions in the general boards was recorded under the Dhaka Education Board, where seven were removed. Barishal followed with six cases. Mymensingh reported five expulsions. Jashore and Sylhet each recorded two. Cumilla and Chattogram reported one each. No expulsions were reported under the Rajshahi and Dinajpur boards.

Under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, candidates sat for the Dakhil Arabic Second Paper exam. A total of 24 people were expelled, while 13,144 students were absent.
Under the Technical Education Board, SSC (Vocational) and SSC (Dakhil) candidates took the Bangladesh and Global Studies exam. One person was expelled there, and 3,064 examinees were absent.
The SSC and equivalent examinations began on 21 April. On the first day, six people were expelled nationwide. The number rose to 19 on the second day and 40 on the third day. More than 34,000 candidates were absent on the third day.
Education authorities are expected to continue monitoring exam centres as the nationwide tests progress.
