The countdown has officially begun for the next major cohort of students set to take the SSC exams. The schedule for the 2027 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations has been announced; this time, the tests will take place earlier in the year than students have seen in a long time.
According to the Ministry of Education’s announcement, the 2027 SSC and equivalent exams will begin on January 7, 2027, with written tests running until February 6, 2027. Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, Minister of Education and of Primary and Mass Education, released the dates, and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has published the proposed schedule accordingly.

The schedule covers all subjects—including Bengali, English, Mathematics, ICT, Science, Entrepreneurship, Bangladesh and Global Studies, Religion and Moral Education, and Further Mathematics—assigning a specific date to each exam. Why January? The Thinking Behind the Early Date
For years, session jams pushed the SSC exams later and later into the year — the 2026 exams, for example, were held in April. The government has now set a clear goal: gradually pull the public exam calendar back so students stop losing months of their lives waiting between exams, results, and admissions.
The Education Minister explained that the January–February window was chosen to give students adequate preparation time while keeping the year on track. The same logic applies to the HSC 2027 exams, which have been scheduled for June 6 to July 13, 2027 — timed so that college graduates can catch the fall semester deadlines for higher study applications at home and abroad. There are also plans to eventually bring the exams all the way back to December in the coming years.
For the 2027 batch, this simply means one thing: the preparation window is shorter than what previous batches enjoyed. Students who treat this fact seriously from now will have a real advantage.
Key Rules Every SSC 2027 Candidate Should Remember
Based on the standing exam regulations, candidates should keep these rules in mind:
- Arrive early — Examinees must be present at the center at least 30 minutes before the exam begins, meaning by 9:30 AM.
- Only permitted materials — Nothing beyond the approved items (like non-programmable calculators where allowed) may be taken into the exam hall. Mobile phones are strictly banned.
- Practical exam instructions will come from each student’s own school, so stay in touch with your institution after the written exams end.
- Trust only official sources — Every exam season, fake “changed routine” images and question leak rumors flood Facebook. Verify everything against the board’s official website or trusted news sources before believing or sharing.
A Preparation Reality Check
If you are an SSC 2027 aspirant, here is a realistic breakdown: as of today, you have about six months until the first exam. This is enough time for solid, comprehensive preparation—but only if you make your routine an ally starting now, rather than waiting until December. Create a study plan by working backward from January 7th, keep the exam time (10:00 AM) in mind to train your brain to perform at its peak in the morning, and cover the entire syllabus while leaving enough time for at least two thorough reviews.
