Jagannath University (JNU) is holding its ‘B’ Unit admission test today, Friday (30 January), for the Faculty of Arts and Law.
The examination will run from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at centres in Dhaka and at three public universities outside the capital. A total of 79,807 candidates have applied for 785 seats in the B Unit, meaning about 102 candidates are competing for each seat.
The information was confirmed by Kristin Richardson, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Jagannath University.
According to the university, the test will be conducted at 13 centres in total, including the Jagannath University campus. Besides the main campus, the exam will be held at nine other centres in Dhaka and at three regional centres outside the capital.
The regional centres are Rajshahi University, Khulna University and Comilla University.
In Dhaka, the centres include the University of Dhaka, K. L. Jubilee High School and College, Banglabazar Government Girls’ High School, Dhaka Collegiate School, Wills Little Flower School and College, Dhaka Metropolitan Women’s College, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, Dhaka Residential Model College and Siddheswari Girls’ College.
The total mark for the B Unit admission test is 100. Of these, 72 marks will be based on multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while the remaining 18 marks will be based on applicants’ SSC and HSC examination results.

The written question paper will cover three subjects: English, Bangla and General Knowledge.
Dean Kristin Richardson said the high number of applications shows strong demand for admission to the Arts and Law faculties. “Against our 785 seats, 79,807 candidates have applied,” he told the media.
He also said the university has issued special instructions to all examination centres for candidates who were unable to download their admit cards due to technical or other issues.
Such candidates will be allowed to sit for the examination after their names are verified from the official applicant list, he said. Their answer scripts will be kept separately in sealed envelopes to ensure proper identification and review later, according to the dean.
The B Unit test is one of the main admission routes for students seeking undergraduate places in humanities and law subjects at Jagannath University.
For many Bangladeshi students, the result of this test is important because competition for public university seats remains very high, especially in Arts and Law programmes in Dhaka.
University officials said no changes have been announced to the examination schedule, and the next official update will be shared by Jagannath University after the test process at all centres is completed.
