The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) will meet Teletalk Bangladesh Limited today to finalise the online registration process for educational institutions ahead of the 19th teacher registration. The meeting is scheduled for Monday at 3:00 pm.
The decision will set the timeline for the e-registration activities that institutions must complete before the official notice for the next teacher registration is published.
An NTRCA source said the authority earlier planned to allow seven days for the process. However, the plan was dropped due to the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Officials now intend to give institutions more time to complete registration. The meeting has been called to fix the new schedule.
NTRCA Chairman Md. Aminul Islam confirmed the discussion. He told to the Media that a meeting with Teletalk would begin today to start the e-registration activities. He said further details would be shared after the meeting.
At the same time, changes are being prepared in the teacher registration rules for non-government educational institutions. Officials said new steps aim to make recruitment more inclusive and improve opportunities for registered candidates.
Under the revised rules, educational qualification equivalence will be ensured in 40 subjects. This means candidates from similar academic backgrounds will be considered equally. Officials believe this will increase the chances of eligible candidates getting into the Teacher Profession. The changes are expected to take effect from the upcoming 19th NTRCA.
A new recruitment method is also under discussion. A 200-mark examination has been proposed for all three divisions — school and college, madrasa, and technical. Earlier proposals suggested different mark patterns for each division.
For example, one proposal included 100 marks subjective and 100 marks general for school-college and technical tracks, and 140 marks subjective with 60 marks general for madrasas. However, the Ministry of Education thinks separate systems could create discrimination.
A ministry official told the Media that authorities are considering the same examination method for all divisions to ensure fairness. The issue will be discussed at the next NTRCA board meeting and later finalised in a ministry meeting.
For the first time, viva or oral test marks will also be included in the registration examination. Previously, no viva marks were counted. In addition, candidates’ age will be calculated from the date the 19th registration notice is published.
The final decisions on the schedule and new rules are expected after the meetings between NTRCA, Teletalk, and the Ministry of Education.
