The Ministry of Education has suspended online registration activities for Class 8 students across Bangladesh until further notice.
The decision was announced in a notice issued on Wednesday by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the ministry. The instruction will apply to all education boards in the country.
According to the notice, the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination remains suspended. Students usually complete registration during admission to Class 6 and later register again in Class 9 for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
The ministry said the additional registration process in Class 8 was creating extra pressure on students. It also said the process was affecting guardians financially and mentally.
As a result, online registration activities for students who will study in Class 8 in 2026 have been kept suspended for now.
Earlier, the Class 8 Registration start date was set for May 2, 2026.
The ministry has already sent copies of the instruction to all education boards and related offices for necessary action.
Officials concerned said the initiative was taken to make the education process easier for students and reduce unnecessary burdens on families.
For the time being, Class 8 students under all secondary and higher secondary education boards will not need to complete online registration.
