Govt to take new MPO applications

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said the government will invite new applications to include private schools and colleges under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme. He shared the update in parliament on Sunday, March 15.

He was replying to a question from Dinajpur-4 MP Akhtaruzzaman Mia during the 13th National Parliament session. The minister said authorities will also review 3,615 applications submitted during the interim government period.

Milon said Chirirbandar Upazila has 92 MPO-listed institutions and six non-MPO institutions. Khansama Upazila has 70 MPO-listed and 10 non-MPO institutions. Together, the two upazilas have 16 non-MPO institutions.

He said the process to gradually include eligible non-MPO institutions is ongoing. MPO listing allows teachers and staff to receive government salary support.

The minister said new applications will be accepted soon. Earlier applications will also be checked again. He added that final decisions will depend on financial approval from the government.
