The countdown may be halted. The results of the 2026 SSC and equivalent exams, which millions of families were expecting on Monday, will not be released on July 20, education boards have confirmed. It appears that uncertainty surrounding the ongoing HSC exams has also delayed the release of the SSC results.
The confirmation came on Saturday, July 18, from Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of Inter-Education Boards of Bangladesh and Chairman of the Dhaka Board of Education. Releasing the results on July 20 is “not possible,” he stated unequivocally. The boards were unable to finalize the results due to various complications related to the HSC exams and are now preparing to release them at the end of the month.
Why the Date Slipped: The HSC Crisis Spilled Over
Officially, the reason given is “administrative burden,” but those who follow our education coverage know exactly what that phrase means. For the past two weeks, the examination boards’ machinery has been overwhelmed by an unprecedented emergency in the HSC: exams repeatedly postponed in flood-affected districts, the indefinite suspension of Chattogram Board tests, nationwide student protests and a march on the ministry, a flawed physics question requiring review and a maximum mark decision, the planning of make-up exams for students absent due to flooding in 59 districts, and emergency meetings that reached the Prime Minister’s Office.
The same examination board officials who approve, finalize, and publish the SSC results have been dealing with all of this. Something had to give, and it was the SSC results schedule.
So When Is the Result Actually Coming?
Here’s the honest status, exactly as it stands:
- No new date has been fixed yet. The revised date will be announced by the Ministry of Education once the result preparation is complete
- The target is within July. The coordination committee says it is preparing to publish the results in the closing days of the month
- The 60-day custom is bending, not breaking. The boards traditionally publish results within about two months of the written exams ending — the delay pushes slightly past the July 20 target the Education Minister had announced in June, but the boards clearly intend to stay close to it
The moment the ministry fixes the date, it will come through the official channels — and we will publish it immediately.
Nothing Else Changes for Examinees
An important reassurance for the 1,857,344 students who applied this year—1,418,398 for SSC across the nine General Boards, 304,286 for Dakhil at the Madrasah Board, and 134,660 at the Technical Board—:

A few practical words for the waiting families:
- Ignore the rumor mill. Within hours of a postponement, fake “confirmed new date” posts and bogus early-result links always flood Facebook. No date is real until the ministry announces it
- Use the extra days well. College shortlisting for HSC admission doesn’t need a result to begin — this is the perfect weekend for it
- Keep the admit card safe. Roll and registration numbers will be needed the moment the result drops
The Bigger Picture
There’s a slight irony to this delay: the wait for SSC students is partly because the testing boards chose to protect HSC students, reviewing questions with errors, organizing make-up exams for those affected by the floods, and canceling tests for students who genuinely couldn’t get to the testing centers. Frustrating as the wait is, it’s a consequence of an exam administration that has been forced, under pressure, to prioritize students’ circumstances.
For SSC students in 2026: your score has already been earned; it just needs to be counted. A few more days won’t change anything on those pages.
